Help with Fair Go

Email matt@fairgo.today and a person will read it. Tell us your iPhone model, the build number from You, and what you were doing when it went wrong.

Is Fair Go on the App Store?

Not yet. It’s in TestFlight while it’s being built alongside the people using it. Ask for an invite at matt@fairgo.today and you’ll get a link and the notes for the current build. You’ll need an iPhone on iOS 26 or later.

Kilojoules or calories?

Either. Tap the unit chip at the top of any screen to switch. Kilojoules are what the app counts in underneath and calories are converted at 4.184 for display only, so nothing drifts as you flip between them.

Why doesn’t exercise add back to my budget?

On purpose. Your active energy from Apple Health sits beside the number, never inside it. Adding exercise back is how tracking apps quietly talk people into eating more than they meant to, and a half-hour walk is not a muffin.

Apple Health isn’t connecting

Open the Health app → your picture → Apps → Fair Go, and check the switches. Fair Go reads steps, active energy, body weight and other apps’ workouts, and writes food, water, weigh-ins and finished sessions. If you said no the first time, iOS won’t ask again — you have to turn it on here.

The microphone doesn’t do anything

Fair Go needs two permissions to listen: the microphone, and speech recognition. Both are asked for the first time you tap it. If you refused either, turn them back on in Settings → Fair Go. There’s no microphone in the iPhone Simulator, so it won’t work there at all.

“Hey Siri, log food in Fair Go”

Say it, then say what you had — “two eggs and a flat white”. It works with no signal: the phone reads it against the food database it keeps on board, and the app takes it into your day the next time you open it. The widget updates straight away. You’ll find the same actions in Shortcuts, on the Lock Screen and on the Action button.

A session I did on my Apple Watch isn’t in History

Open Fair Go on your phone with the watch nearby. A session done on the wrist is handed over the next time the two are in touch. It comes across with the energy your watch measured, rather than the phone’s estimate.

A food’s numbers look wrong

Open the food and tap Use my numbers. Your version replaces it everywhere on your phone from then on, and follows you to a new one. Past logs don’t change: a log keeps the energy it was logged with, always. If a food someone shared is plainly wrong, report it and it’s hidden from everyone once a few people agree.

Eggs are still showing in grams

Fair Go counts the things people count — eggs, Weet-Bix, slices, rashers, bananas, crumpets — and weighs the rest. If a food you use often is still in grams and shouldn’t be, tell us what it is and we’ll add it.

Connecting Claude or ChatGPT

See connecting an assistant. Short version: add Fair Go as a connector, it shows you a six-character code, you type that into You → Connect an assistant on your phone. Fair Go never asks for a password in a browser.

Getting your data out

You → Your data → Make the files. Three files: everything as JSON, your meals as a spreadsheet, and your training as another, one set per line. Progress photos aren’t in it — they never leave your phone, so they’re already where they live.

Deleting your account

You → Your data → Delete my account. Full instructions are on this page. It can’t be undone.
